Ready:

Now to Him who is able to protect you from stumbling and to make you

stand in the presence of
His glory, blameless and with great joy, to the only God our Savior,

through Jesus Christ our Lord,
be glory, majesty, power, and authority before all time, now, and

forever.–Jude 24-25

Set:

Basketball fans can still hear the words, “And now, the starting lineup for your Chicago Bulls . . .” The words echoed as Pippen, Grant, Cartwright, Armstrong, and Jordan were announced. High schools and colleges still imitate these now famous words.

I wonder how Jude 24 and 25 would sound blaring from the loud speakers of heaven when the Lord returns. It might sound something like: “And now coming down from His glorious throne to take back His own, the One who picks you up when you are down, who puts a smile upon that frown, the One who won’t let you fall, the Savior of all. He is King of Kings, Lord of Lords, Alpha and Omega. He is the Man. He became man to save all men. He is not One, or Two, but the Trinity. Let’s rise to our feet to give Him all glory, majesty, power, and authority now, tomorrow, and forever. You know who I’m talking about. Give it up for my King . . . Number One . . . Jesus Christ!”

He desires to be the Lord of our lives. Will we let Him? What is keeping us from giving Him complete control? He desires not only to be a part of our lives, but to be our life. Are we ready to hear our names called by the heavenly announcer: “And now, for our new heavenly teammate. Give it up for . . .”

Go:

1. Do you enjoy listening to the starting lineups before a game?
2. Have you made Jesus number one in your life?
3. How can you know your name will be spoken all over heaven when your time comes?

Overtime:

Lord, please take control of my life, be my number one, and show me how to rely completely on You. Amen.
