Ready:

“May God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ give you grace and peace. Jesus gave his life for our sins, just as God our Father planned, in order to rescue us from this evil world in which we live.” - Galatians 1:3-4 (NLT)

Set:

I play fantasy football with my friends. Although it’s not technically a sport, it is fun. Recently, a person offered to trade me two of his players for one of mine. His players were good, but I didn’t see them as great, so I battled about this trade, I looked at player stats, future projections and schedules to analyze this trade. In the end, I didn’t make it. Why? Because I was afraid! I was afraid that the players were not going to be as good as the one I had and that the two players would let me down. I had fear that my team wouldn’t be as good, and that if I traded that player I would lose the championship.

The next week the players he offered me scored a combined 40 points. My player scored 7. In hindsight it would have been a good trade.

You know, God has a trade for you. We give God our sins, troubles, worries, sadness, and sickness. In return we receive His forgiveness, abundant life, love, mercy and eternity. All we have to do is agree to make the trade. As humans we wonder if the trade is worth it. Will my future be good if I give it to God and don’t have control? Is God going to let me down? Are God’s provision and blessings enough? Will the plans that God has for my life not be as good as my own?

Two thousand years ago, Jesus traded His life for yours on a cross. He did it because He loved you. It says in Galatians 1:3-4 that God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ give you grace and peace. Jesus traded His life for our sins, just as God our Father planned, in order to rescue us from the evil world in which we live. God made that trade so that we could have a relationship with Him through Jesus. If you want to make this trade today, pray and ask Jesus to trade your sins for His forgiveness, to make the trade between your life and His in your heart. Trust Him when He says that He has good things planned for you and repent of your sins. Then, be welcomed to God’s winning team!

Go:

1. What physical things hinder you from accepting God’s trade?
2. Do you know how much God loves you?
3. Does fear hold you back from giving God your life?
4. Do you trust that God has good plans for your future? If not, why?
5. How can you learn to trust Him more?
