It seems like when you're in a conversation and you have nothing else to talk about, the weather always comes up. For a large majority of Americans, another popular topic of conversation seems to be sports, especially when they are running out of things to say. We find sports an easy topic, kind of a comfort zone.
You know, it's cool. There are a ton of different sports out there to talk about. You have baseball, basketball, football, hockey, track and field. . . The list goes on and on. But why is it that we can talk so easily with each other about these sports and not about God? Why do we find it so hard to tell our unsaved friends about what our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ has done for us, but so easy to tell them about the mammoth home run Albert Pujols hit the previous night?
My challenge to you is to get comfortable talking to others about God. Next time you hit a dull point in a conversation with nothing left to say, steer clear of the familiar. Don't start talking about whether or not it's going to rain today. Don't bring up who won last night's White Sox/Tigers game. Take a leap of faith and talk about Christ.
